A Weekend Without Karate.

Just kidding, that actually doesn't happen. I plan my life around karate. My family has access to my online calendar so they can plan around my karate. Birthday's around tournaments, date night around lessons, what days I pick up groceries around teaching, etc. Karate pretty much runs my life, it has to. In order for me to be competitive at the level I want to be, karate and training usually has to come first. Which is how I found myself super under dressed and covered in sweat at a lunch, lol.

Saturday was a big day for my sister-in-law, she graduated with her Masters in Social Work. This was an amazing feat. She went to school and did practicums, worked, managed to juggle her social life into it so I could see her every now and then, all while being a single mom. I frequently use her as inspiration, because is she can do all that, what's my excuse. To help celebrate, before graduation there was late lunch plans at a hibachi grill place. Except I had a kata lesson at 2pm, lunch was at 3. And this is a group lesson, so I can't just reschedule it. We won't discuss my driving speed, although the place is very close, but I made it there only 10 minutes late.

Thankfully this place isn't too fancy, but everyone is dressed very nicely, and here I am in running shorts and a sports bra and tank top...and sweaty. Which naturally means everyone wants a hug. And truth be told, it's okay. I don't mind showing up over or under dressed, I might have at some point in my life, but not anymore. And I was able to shower before graduation and the after party.

This weekend is chock-full of karate. A tournament on Saturday and a belt test on Sunday. And of course, it is 8th grade graduation for my son, and then high school graduation where I teach. And then there are all of the graduation parties...

So if after this next weekend you don't here from me for a couple days, I will be sleeping, lol.

Oh yeah, and if you didn't see it, I was on the news Friday night.
